Removal of Clause that Decentralized Pre-Tertiary Education at the District Level

Parliament has agreed to remove certain clauses that purports to decentralized Pre-Tertiary Education. This was a bill in parliament and some of the clauses signifies that Pre-Tertiary Education should be decentralized with the caption. ‘ Decentralization of Pre-Tertiary Education at the District level’ These therefore means that the president will be able to appoint Directors of education, Circuit supervisors, heads of schools and other positions in the educational setting which all the teacher unions kicked against.
A letter addressed to the teacher unions on 20th May, 2020 assured them that, some of the clauses that decentralizes Pre-Tertiary Education has been withdrawn following their reaction.
Another press release from the Ministry of Education to GES confirming that the unfavourable clauses is taken away and that parliament will now proceed in passing on the vital aspects of the bill into law. This clauses according to the teacher unions was going to destabilize education in Ghana because education is so important that it should not be meddled with politics.
There is therefore calm among the teacher unions, stakeholders and parents who are concerned.
