Japan is one of the richest countries in the world that is prone to earhquake. SkyNet News has sourced an earthquake today 20th November 2021.
Just some few minutes ago, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Tokyo, Japan. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Saturday, November 20th, 2021, at 8:57 am according to Japan’s local time, at an intermediate depth of 99.9 km below the surface.
The event was filed by Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
“Weak shaking might have been felt in Tanashichō (pop. 82,100) located 1 km from the epicenter, Nishi-Tokyo-shi (pop. 195,200) 1 km away, Musashino (pop. 137,500) 4 km away, Kamirenjaku (pop. 178,700) 5 km away, Higashimurayama (pop. 150,600) 6 km away, Kokubunji (pop. 118,700) 6 km away, Chōfu (pop. 213,000) 9 km away, Tokyo (pop. 8,336,600) 15 km away, Saitama (pop. 1,193,400) 22 km away, and Yokohama (pop. 3,574,400) 35 km away.
The earthquake has not caused any serious damaged but many people felt that there was a shaking of the earth.
