Leaders of the striking teachers and TEWU walked out whiles negotiations was still ongoing. Today marks a week when the striking teachers met with government officials to discuss their plight of high cost of living(COLA).
The meeting ended inconclusive because the President of the National Association of Teachers (NAGRAT) and the General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) was told to call off the strike before negotiations.
The represented leaders of GNAT and NAGRAT were Angel Carbonou and Thomas Musah respectively said the strike continues. To them the government telling them to call off the strike before negotiations is a betrayal.
This is one of times the leadership of the teacher unions have really demanded a positive action to be taken by government. Today they met to hear something positive but this was contrary.
The leadership of GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT and TEWU said the strike continues.
